In this 15-day premier tour to Egypt you will see all the major sites that no trip to Egypt would be complete without. Let our experienced leaders take you back in time to experience Ancient Egyptian history just a little bit off the main track.

Itinerary
Day 1, Sunday - Cairo
You will be met upon your arrival in Cairo and assisted through passport control and customs. Our van will then drive you to your hotel, located near the pyramids.

Day 2, Monday - Cairo
You will spend the day on the Giza Plateau. Begin with a visit to the Pyramid of Khufu and the Solar Boat Museum, the recently opened Tomb or Meresankh, the timeless Sphinx, and the Valley Temple of Khafra. After lunch, you can either return to the hotel to relax or enjoy a walking tour. Visit the Pyramids of Khafra and Menkara, explore their Mortuary Temples and an ancient limestone quarry.

Day 3, Tuesday - Cairo/Luxor
Today you begin your tour of the necropolis at Saqqara, site of the Step Pyramid of Djoser, by visiting the Imhotep Museum. You will then see the Step Pyramid complex and explore the Pyramids of Unis and Teti (with their ancient pyramid texts). While there you will see the Tomb of the Brothers and the Tomb of the Nobleman, Kagemni, and the New Kingdom tombs of Horemheb and Mia. After a late lunch you will drive to the ancient capital of Memphis to visit the outdoor museum and the beautiful Colossus of Rameses II. Finally, you will head to the airport for your flight to Luxor, where you will check into your hotel, located on the Nile.

Day 4, Wednesday - Luxor
A drive through town will bring you to Karnak, the world's largest temple complex (built over a period of more than a thousand years), where plenty of time is scheduled for wandering around. Not to be missed is the outdoor museum and the Temple of Khonsu. After lunch you will visit the beautiful Luxor Museum. This will be followed by free time to relax, swim or shop. In the evening you will visit Luxor Temple, for a breath-taking after-dark tour.

Day 5, Thursday - Luxor
Today, take the bridge across the Nile to the West Bank, then a short drive will bring you to Deir el Medina, the ancient village of the workers who built the Pharaohs' tombs, with its small Ptolemaic Temple and the beautifully preserved Tomb of Sennedjem. Then drive to the Valley of the Kings where you will visit as many of the open tombs as you desire, including the Tombs of Seti I, Tutankhamun, and Rameses VI. After leaving the Valley, stop for a short visit to Howard Carter's house, which has been converted into a museum, before returning to your hotel.

Day 6, Fri - Luxor
Today you will return to the West Bank to visit the Ramesseum, the mortuary temple of Rameses II, and Medinet Habu, temple of Rameses III and the best preserved of the New Kingdom temples. Then on to the Valley of the Queens, and the Tomb of Nefertari, as well as the deeply touching Tomb of Khaemwaset, a young son of Rameses III. Finally, you will stop for a photo opportunity at the Colossi of Memnon, statues of Amenhotep III that once stood before his temple.

Day 7, Sat - Luxor
Cross the Nile once more to visit Deir el Bahri and the Temple of Hatshepsut, the female king. Afterward you will have the opportunity to visit several nobles tombs located in the area before returning to your hotel.

Day 8, Sun - Luxor
The day is free, until noon when you will check into your 5-star Cruise boat. Spend the day revisiting your favorite sights or explore some new ones. An optional (extra cost) day trip to Abydos and Dendara is available if you wish.

Day 9, Mon - Luxor/Edfu
Today is free for sightseeing or shopping until your cruise boat sets sail for Aswan.

Day 10, Tues - Edfu/ Kom Ombo/Aswan
This morning, horse-drawn carriages will take you to the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved temple on the Nile. You will cruise until late afternoon, when a short walk will take you to the twin Temples of Sobek and Horus at Kom Ombo. Your boat should reach Aswan after dark. It's a great way to end the day, watching from the deck as you approach the lights of the city.

Day 11, Wed - Aswan
Enjoy a relaxing felucca ride on the Nile to visit the archeological site at Elephantine Island, the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener's Island and the 6th and 12th Dynasty Nobles' Tombs on the West Bank. Upon your return you will check into your hotel overlooking the Nile.

Day 12, Thur - Aswan
Today, visit the fantastic rock cut temples of Rameses II at Abu Simbel (built to honor himself and his Queen, Nefertari). A wonder of ancient and modern engineering, these temples were raised to higher ground when the Aswan High Dam was built. Upon your return to Aswan the remainder of the day is free.

Day 13, Fri - Aswan/Cairo
Begin your day with a visit to the New Nubia Museum. Your van will then take you to the ancient granite quarry with the Unfinished Obelisk of King Hatshepsut (or perhaps Thutmose III). Your visit will end with the Temple of Isis at Philae, perhaps Egypt's most beautiful temple. In the afternoon you will fly to Cairo.

Day 14, Sat - Cairo
This morning will be spent at the Egyptian Museum, where you will see the Treasures of Tutankhamun and the Royal Mummy room. Then wander through Old Cairo with its Christian and Jewish past, the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque. This evening join enjoy your farewell dinner.

Day 15, Sun - Cairo
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
