The Mena House Hotel and the Pyramids
All tours depart from New York on Tuesday and return to New York on Saturday of the following
week (if we arrange your international
air travel to Egypt). Tours may be scheduled each week of the year except from January 1st through April 1st. This is a low priced,
fully guided tour. A holiday surcharge applies for departures in December (Christmas Holiday) and Spring Break (usually in April).
This is a special tour of Egypt designed for those who would like to see Egypt by train, prefer not to
fly, or want a
less expensive tour
that still visits all the major sights. This fully guided tour is designed
primarily for the first time visitor to Egypt, who has
limited time or whose schedule does not permit
participation in our Egyptian Odyssey tour. It is a 12 day, 11 night (including international
travel
which is available for an added cost), trip which includes visits to the most important and famous
pharaonic monuments in Egypt
(Abu Simbel is included at an additional cost, if desired). There are also brief visits to the most important Islamic, Coptic and
Jewish sites in Cairo. A high standard of quality is maintained throughout, including stays in four-star and five-star hotels.

A tour of Egypt for those who want a different experience, would like to see Egypt using the nation's rail system, prefer not to fly, or want a less expensive tour that still visits all of the major sights of Pharaonic Egypt.
Day 1, Tuesday, New York/Cairo
If Museum Tours arranges your air, your plane will depart from New York on Egypt Air at 6:30 pm.

Day 2, Wednesday, Cairo
Upon your arrival in Cairo you will be met at the airport by a Museum Tours representative
and transferred to the Mena House Hotel, located
near the Pyramids.

Day 3, Thursday,
Cairo
Spend all day at the Giza Plateau where you will visit the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafra, & Menkaura, the Sphinx and Valley
Temple of Khafra and the Solar Boat Museum. You will also visit the tombs of the Nobles, Qar and Idu.

Day 4, Friday, Cairo
The morning will be spent at the necropolis at Saqqara, including visits to the Step Pyramid
of Djoser, the Pyramid of Pepi and the tomb of Mereruka. In the afternoon visit the ancient capital of Memphis with its beautiful
colossus of Rameses II. This evening you will board your train for an overnight ride to Luxor.

Day 5, Saturday, Luxor
This morning, disembark from the train and transfer to the
New Winter Palace Hotel. After dropping off your
luggage
you will visit the grand Temple of Karnak, the largest temple
complex in the world. After lunch you will visit the Temple
of Luxor. The rest of the day is free.

Day 6. Sunday, Luxor
A
drive across the Nile will bring you to the Valley of the
Kings where you will visit the Tomb of Tutankhamen and
three other royal
tombs. Then on to the Valley of the
Queens and Deir el Bahri, where you will see the temple
of the female pharaoh, Hatshepsut. On
the way back to your hotel you will stop for a photo of the Colossi of Memnon, great statues that once stood before the temple of
Amenhotep III.

Day 7, Monday, Luxor
This morning you will cross the Nile once again to visit the workers' village at Deir el Medina and the
Tomb
of Sennedjem. Your morning visits include the Ramesseum (mortuary temple of Rameses II)
and Medinet Habu (mortuary temple of Rameses
III and the best preserved
New Kingdom temple) B - New Winter Palace, L, D - on your own,

Day 8, Tuesday,
Luxor/Aswan
Today you will board your van and drive to Aswan. along the way you will stop to visit the Temple of
Horus at Edfu (the
best preserved temple on the Nile) and the twin Temples of Horus and Sobek at
Kom Ombo. Upon your arrival in Aswan you will transfer
to the five-star New Cataract Hotel.

Day 9, Wednesday,
Aswan
Today you will visit the Temple of Isis at Philae (considered by many to be the most beautiful in Egypt) and the ancient granite
quarry with the unfinished obelisk of Hatshepsut. After lunch a relaxing Felucca ride on the Nile will complete your day.

Day 10, Thursday, Aswan
Today you have a choice. You can opt for a free day in Aswan
or join us for an optional side trip to visit
the great rock cut temples of Rameses II at Abu Simbel. In the afternoon you will begin
your overnight
train ride to Cairo.

Day 11, Friday, Cairo
Upon your arrival
in Cairo you will transfer to the four-star Novotel Heliopolis. After dropping off your
bags you will visit Old Cairo with its Christian
and Jewish past, the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster
Mosque of Mohamed Ali. The entire afternoon will be spent in the Egyptian
Museum where you will
see the Treasurers of Tutankhamen, the Royal Mummy room and much, much more. In the evening
stroll through the
world famous Khan el Khalili Bazaar.

Day 12, Saturday, Cairo/New York
This morning you will be taken to the Cairo airport for your flight home.
