Pharaonic Journey is the lowest priced tour that Museum Tours offers to Egypt that includes a Nile cruise and a visit to Abu Simbel, as well as all of the
major sites that no tour of Pharaonic Egypt would be complete without.
Pharaonic Journey departs from New York every Tuesday and returns to
New York on Saturday, 12 days later.
COMMENTS
This fully guided, moderately priced, tour is designed primarily for the first time visitor to Egypt, who has limited time or whose schedule does not permit participation in our Egyptian Odyssey tour. It is a 12 day, 11 night (including international travel which is available for an added cost), trip which includes visits to the most important and famous pharaonic monuments in Egypt, including Abu Simbel at no extra cost. There are also brief visits to the most important Islamic, Coptic and Jewish sites in Cairo. A high standard of quality is maintained throughout, including stays in five star hotels and a five star cruise ship.
 
All tours depart from New York on Tuesday and return to New York on Saturday of the following week. Tours may be scheduled each week of the year except from January 1st through April 1st. This is a low priced, fully guided tour. A holiday surcharge applies for departures in December (Christmas Holiday) and Spring Break (usually in April).

Day 1, Tuesday
If we are arranging your international travel you will leave New York on Egypt Air for your overnight trip to Cairo.
 
Day 2, Wednesday
Upon arrival in Cairo you will be met by a Museum Tours Rep-
resentative, who will assist you with checked luggage, passport control and customs. You will then be driven through Cairo to the legendary five star hotel, The Mena House, located at the base of the pyramids, in time for lunch. The rest of the day is free to relax and get over your jet lag.

Day 3, Thursday
After breakfast, you and your guide visit the Pyramids at Giza. Explore inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, visit the Solar Boat museum, and the ageless Sphinx of Khafra with its valley temple. After lunch, at a nearby restaurant, you can return to the hotel to relax, or, if you have the energy, join your guide and return to the Giza Plateau for a walking tour, to visit the Pyramids of Khafra and Menkara, with the remains of their mortuary temples, the Tomb of Mery-nefer Qar and the Tomb of Meresankh, nobles of the Old Kingdom.

Day 4, Friday
A visit to the ancient necropolis at Saqqara will begin your day. Sites include: the Step Pyramid of Djoser (the world's first pyramid), the Pyramid of Unas with its pyramid texts and causeway, the Tomb of the Brothers, the Mastaba tombs of Mereruka and Ptah-hotep and the Pyramid of Teti.After a late lunch you will be driven to the ancient capital of Memphis with its magnificent and beautiful Colossus of Ramses before returning to the hotel.

Day 5, Saturday
You will catch an early morning flight to Luxor where you will be met and transferred to your five star crusie boat, your home for the next 4 nights. After a lunch on board, your guide will take you to visit Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in the world. Later we will have a chance to explore Luxor Temple. There will be plenty of time in the late afternoon to visit the Bazaar.

Day 6, Sunday
After an early breakfast a ferry will take you across the Nile to visit the West
Bank. Begin your day by visiting the Valley of the Kings, burial place for the
great kings of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties. where you will be able to visit
several of the most interesting tombs open to the public, including the Tomb of
Tutankhamen. You will then tour the Valley of the Queens, including the
beautiful and touching tomb of Khaemwaset, a son of Rameses III who died in
childhood. You will finish your day with a visit to Dier El Bahri and the Temple
of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon, the giant statues of Amenhotep III,
before you return to your cruise ship for lunch. After noon the boat will set sail
for Aswan.

Day 7, Monday
This morning you will visit Edfu where horse drawn carriages will take you to the stupendous, Ptolemaic Temple of Horus , the best preserved temple on the Nile. Your boat then sets sail to visit the twin Temples of Horus, the falcon headed god, and Sobek, the crocodile god, at Kom Ombo in the afternoon. It will arrive at Aswan late this evening.

Day 8, Tuesday
Today a short drive and boat ride will take us to Agilka Island, new site of the Temple of Isis at Philae, considered by many to be the most beautiful temple in Egypt. Visit the Unfinished Obelisk of the female Pharaoh, Hatshepsut, at the ancient granite quarry.

Day 9, Wednesday
After an early breakfast, you will fly to the fabled temples of Abu Simbel built
by Ramses II, for himself and his favorite wife Nefertari. Return to Aswan in
time for lunch and a relaxing sail in a felucca on the Nile before your evening
flight to Luxor.

Day 10, Thursday
Return to the West bank to catch the sights you missed on your prior visit.
The schedule includes the workers' village at Dier el Medina and the Tomb
of Sennedjem, one of the best preserved tombs in all of Egypt. You will also
have time to visit the Ramesseum, the mortuary temple of Rameses II
(known as Rameses the Great), and Medinet Habu , the best preserved of
the New Kingdom temples. Catch an evening flight to Cairo where you will
check in to the Hilton Hotel.

Day 11, Friday
Explore Old Cairo and learn about its Christian (Coptic) and Jewish past. Visit the Citadel of Saladin and the
Alabaster Mosque. After lunch on your own visit the Egyptian Museum with the Treasures of Tutankhamen
and the Royal Mummy Room. Finally, a visit to the famed Khan el Khalili bazaar will complete your day.

Day 12, Saturday
Leave Cairo and return to New York and then home.
