Egypt Revisited departs from New York two times a year, mid-February and mid-October. these dates are chosen to approximately coincide with the solar phenomenon at Abu Simbel when the sun's morning rays shine down the gallery of the temple and light the statues of the gods in the sanctuary. We do not try to achieve the exact date (the 21st or 22nd) of the month as the effect is clearly visible for several days on either side of the central date.
